Recruitment Process under way for Major Project
Recruitment is underway for a major initiative of the Bank of Thailand to help create a framework for microfince regulations and policies within the coutry.
The project will support the Government's initiative to promote financial inclusion through a highly consultative process among the concerned government agencies, banks, development partners and saving and credit groups to improve the policy, supervision and regulatory environment for a wider and deeper inclusion of the low-income population to safe and affordable financial services. The project scope includes a diagnostic assessment of the current framework for inclusive finance, development of a national strategy for financial inclusion and implementation plan (with particular focus on consumer protection, financial literacy and microinsurance), strengthened capacity of the Fiscal Policy Offices Bureau of Financial Inclusion Policy and Development to conduct its supervisory responsibility, and initial priority steps taken towards an improved regulatory and policy framework that will facilitate financial inclusion.
Microfinance Thailand partners were actively engaged in this process in 2009-2010 when several agencies were trying to expand operations. We welcome this new initiative and wish to support its work. For more information, visit the ADB website.
Microfinance is also happy to help connect consulting firms with the (small) group of microfinance experts in the country. Contact us at info@microfinancethailand.com
